How it
works OpenHand is a client/server
remote access software solution based on
Microsoft's .NET Framework. The client connects
to the OpenHand server over a TCP/IP connection.
The OpenHand server then connects to the
Microsoft® Exchange server or Lotus Domino®
server to retrieve users' personal information
(email, calendar, contacts and tasks) which is
then made available to the client device.
The server application behaves as if it
were just an ordinary Outlook or Notes client
application so no configuration modifications
need to be made to mission critical PIM servers.
Software need not be installed on these servers
either, ensuring that the installation of
OpenHand has no impact on the availability of
email for users.
